Youth Education:
Jewish Discovery School
The name of our children's educational program reflects our educational mission and goals. Together we will discover the wealth of Jewish wisdom. We offer two mixed-age classes for children on Wednesdays from 4:30-6pm throughout the school year. For more information, please contact the RJC Office.
Shorashim: Young learners, ages 5–8.
Anafim: Older learners, ages 9–13.
Torah is a tree of life, deeply rooted, ever-giving and blossoming anew each year.
Shorashim means "roots". Our Shorashim group of young learners will discover Jewish values through the stories of our tradition, learn Jewish music and begin Hebrew reading and conversation. Jewish holidays are brought to life through craft projects and experiential learning.
Anafim means "branches". Our Anafim group of older learners will engage in a 21st century dynamic program based on core Jewish values as expressed through Torah, Prayer, Jewish History, and most importantly contemporary experience. This curriculum (Shalom Learning) is designed to help students see the connections between their daily lives and Jewish tradition and wisdom. We also offer a music based approach to prayer called Hebrew in Harmony that is fun and engaging. An afternoon or evening prayer service completes our day.
Please come for a visit. We'd love to welcome you.
