Rabbinic Search

The Rutland Jewish Center is seeking an entrepreneurial-minded Rabbi who is spiritual, musical, well spoken, diplomatic, and empathetic. The ideal candidate has an enthusiasm for Judaism and authenticity. S/He loves being a rabbi and is able to connect Judaism with contemporary issues and needs, including Israel.

The ideal candidate is a strong, charismatic leader who is also flexible and energetic. S/He must be able to chant from the Torah and have strong prayer leading and musical skills and a pleasant singing voice. S/He should be committed to social action, willing and able to help the Rutland Jewish Center community to connect with the wider Rutland community. S/He should be dedicated to interfaith work in the community and to inspiring children and adults to support local and global environmental concerns.

We expect the Rabbi of the Rutland Jewish Center to:
  • Lead all Shabbat and Holiday services
  • Direct and teach in our Jewish Discovery School and tutor b'nai mitzvah students
  • Provide and lead adult education classes
  • Provide pastoral care
  • Officiate at life-cycle events, including interfaith and LGBTQ weddings
  • Curate cultural and educational experiences for the greater community
  • Actively engage with the Rutland Interfaith Clergy group
  • Provide vision and guidance to our active committees, including but not limited to: Communications,Events, Outreach, and Ritual
  • Represent the Rutland Jewish Center at community and municipal events

While not required to perform the job, a love of winter outdoor activities would enable this person to enjoy all that the Rutland/Killington region has to offer.
