Hebrew - Rabbi Weber

Last week toward the end of the week our cleaners got very serious about finishing up their work here and it was difficult to get in an out of my office, and then the office was being cleaned. Long story short, I didn't get a chance to send out an email and post to the website homework for both classes. Thus, you all get an unexpected week without homework this
week.

While I have your attention, please look ahead on the calendar:

1. Next week (Tuesday evening, May 22) is Shavuot. We are holding a dairy/ blintzes dinner and service. Yes, it is a night before school. Jewish holidays have a habit of ignoring the secular school calendar, having been created thousands of years before the American public school system. I would encourage you to observe the holiday with your kids, even if it means either keeping them out of school the next day or going a little late. Shavu'ot is one of the three big Biblical holidays.

2.Wed. June 6 at 7:30 PM we will have a planning meeting for next year. This is your best opportunity to have your voice heard about calendar, curriculum, scheduling and other issues at our little school.

3. Friday night, June 8 is Hebrew School Shabbat. I will be assigning every student a part to lead in the Shabbat eve. service as a way of celebrating the end of the academic year and the kids' accomplishments this year.

See you all on Tuesday.

History/Bible - Nancy Garfinkel

The Bet class of last Tuesday was a little topsy turvy due to our not being in our usual place (from the cleaning) and because some of the students left early for baseball and some were absent due to illness.  OY!

For the students that were in class, we went over the recent exam and discussed the answers to the questions.  I responded to any questions about the test and we talked about the topics it had covered.  We then had time for a quick round of Prophets Wheel of Fortune and everyone worked very hard to solve the puzzle.

Due to the lateness of this notice, there is no homework due for this week.  See you all on Tuesday.  : )

Enrichment:
Parents: Direct students to www.behrmanhouse.com where they can practice their Hebrew decoding
with “Click and Read Hebrew at Home” (the orange button) and drill prayer reading with “Click and Learn Prayer at Home” (the hot pink button). It’s also an ideal way for parents to practice along with their children.
