Hebrew - Rabbi Weber

Those who were present today, (we had some absences,) took a test on Unit 4 and the first seven letters of cursive writing. After glancing through the tests, it seems everyone did fairly well.

As Katie and Aliya were absent and Noah and Jacob had to leave early for a concert, I did not go further in the book. We played a review game to bone up on our skills in reading cursive.

I handed out a review sheet on cursive writing, which also includes two letters we have not formally learned yet, tet and yud. Please fill them in. We will snail mail copies to those who were absent.

Please remember that this week is Junior Congregation on Sat.

For adults: Tomorrow night (Wed.) we have a special out of town guest for a one time adult education session. Howard Goldberg, Regional Director of the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism will be here to present the
results of the recent law committee reports on the status of homosexuals within the Conservative movement. We will begin at 7:00 PM with an expected end time of around 8:30 PM. It's a good opportunity to hear from someone directly involved about this highly emotionally charged issue.

History/Bible - Nancy Garfinkel

Well,

It was really nice to be back in class this week.  Thank you to everyone who sent very special get well cards and notes to me.  They really brightened my days.

We had a great class this week.  Everyone had their homework done and participated in the review.  We had a great discussion relating to the new material in the text and then went on to a round of Prophets Wheel of Fortune and even had a few minutes for Star Wars Trivia.  It was a fun class this week.

For homework:  Please do the exercises on pages 66 & 67 if you have not already done so.  (Many of our students like to get a jump on the homework and do it in class)

We have a special program lined up for this coming Tuesday.  I hope to see you all then.

Have a great weekend.
Mrs. Garfinkel

Enrichment:
Parents: Direct students to www.behrmanhouse.com where they can practice their Hebrew decoding
with “Click and Read Hebrew at Home” (the orange button) and drill prayer reading with “Click and Learn Prayer at Home” (the hot pink button). It’s also an ideal way for parents to practice along with their children.
