The Rutland Jewish center is home to a small but vibrant religious school that meets on Tuesday afternoons from 4:00–6:00 pm during the school year (we coordinate our schedule with Rutland City schools), and roughly once a month for Junior Congregation on Saturday mornings from 10:15 until about noon. Students generally attend religious school through and including the year of their b'nai mitzvah; however, education doesn't stop at 13. Our teen group also meets regularly during the school year.
The mission of the Rutland Jewish Center Religious School is to create a pedagogical and spiritual environment that promotes, teaches and nurtures Jewish identity and a living Judaism in its students. The Religious School will provide:
Teen Group
Classroom and experiential educational programming;
Knowledge and experience of prayer and a prayer life, Hebrew as a prayer language and a modern language, TaNaKh, Torah Scholarship, Midrash, Jewish Year Cycle and Life Cycle, History and Current Events;
An understanding of Jewish Values and their applicability in one's life;
Opportunities for family learning;
Opportunities for tzedakah and gemilut chassadim;
An appreciation for Jewish art, music, dancing, and crafts;
An affinity for the Jewish people, our Jewish heritage and the State of Israel; and
A foundation for developing a life-long relationship with GodTeen Group
