The Sisterhood of the Rutland Jewish Center is a community association of women from the Rutland region. Active since the mid-twentieth century, Sisterhood's mission is to:
- Encourage the customs and traditions of Judaism
- Encourage and support the religious school
- Provide scholarships when appropriate
- Encourage and support community service, and
- Support the Constitution and Bylaws of the Rutland Jewish Center
Through the years, RJC Sisterhood has provided assistance to community projects including the Red Cross blood drives, the Well Baby Clinic in Rutland, the Rutland Women's Shelter, the hospital Book Wagon, and the local Community Cupboard food shelf. We also sponsor the Kay Berger Award, given annually to a Rutland High School graduating senior.
Our semi-annual Rummage sales, which take place in May and November, are community favorites and substantial fundraisers. Rutland area residents for miles around line up early for the high quality bargains they know they'll find.
